Welcome to Institute Of Psycho-Trauma Pakistan

Institute of Psycho-Trauma Pakistan " IPTP"

The Institute of Psycho-trauma Pakistan (IPTP) was established in Oct, 2005.  It is a virtual institute, a network of psychiatrists, general physicians, psychologists, nurses and social workers and allied health professionals. It came into being in view of actual and perceived violence in the society.

BASIC PREMISE OF THE INSTITUTE is that trauma is embedded in a society, which has not been able to protect its members from violence and/or catastrophe.  Society must be prepared and be ready at all times to deal with major or minor traumas that are faced.  For this, family and society at large must learn to internalize its inherent strengths and built in support systems.

Three aspects are central to experience of trauma

- Helplessness, the feeling of being at the mercy of someone else/others.

- A breakdown in one’s own sense of existence and loss of security.

- Extreme Negative Stress

Timely recognition and prevention of effects is very essential

.

ITPT, consists of a group of professionals trained in psycho-trauma.. These  professionals, include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and other mental health professionals ,who have come together with the aim of helping the victims of psycho trauma, focusing mainly on effected women and children.

IPTP has Started Following Programs of Prevention and Treatment.
